Brockton Firefighters regrets to announce the passing of retired firefighter Joseph J. Mather
Joseph J. Mather, age 97, of Assonet, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Barbara V. (Williams) Mather.
Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late John and Fannie (Khoury) Mather.

Boston Fire and EMS Detailed to Scene of Explosions at Boston Marathon
April 15, 2013 –Members of Boston Local 718 Boston fire fighters are responding after two explosions in Copley Square – the finish line of the Boston Marathon and the heart of downtown Boston. More than 100 were already detailed to the event for the marathon.
The explosions occurred at about 2:45 p.m.

| Fight for Air 2012 |
Saturday February 4th Local 144 sent 16 members to the Climb for Life Event in Boston sponsored by the American Lung Association. As of today Local 144 has raised $5950 for this event.
This was Brockton's first time competing in the event. Out of 39 firefighter teams that came from all over New England Brockton placed 7th.
